Training Band

The Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Training Band welcomes players of any age who have started learning to play a wind instrument or are returning to music after a break. If you have the enthusiasm to improve your playing and are prepared to regularly attend rehearsals then come along and give our friendly group a try.

Our repertoire includes a wide range of music from classical and show medleys through to jazz, swing and pop genres. A typical rehearsal has a training element and may include work on rhythms, tuning, sight reading and interpretation.

We give at least one public concert each year and perform at local fetes in the summer. Sometimes the Training Band joins the Concert Band for a concert, music workshop or tour, providing enjoyable opportunities to play and learn alongside more experienced players. Members who reach the required standard are encouraged to apply for membership of the Concert Band.

There is no audition to join the Training Band – just contact the conductor who will invite you to a few rehearsals and introduce you to the musicians in your section. If you decide to continue with us you will be asked to pay a small subscription and be given the music for the current repertoire. All we ask from you is a commitment to attend the rehearsals and gigs, and to have fun! Click here to learn about the conductor of the training band - Patrick Browne

• You are never too old or young to start playing in a band
• Playing music with other people is rewarding, sociable and develops musical skills
• If you have an instrument and the enthusiasm – come and join us!
